Question: What are you doing when you go to an art website?

Hi!

I was wondering how everyone uses art or art gallery type website that shows off, say, fantasy art. I'm asking because I just started a website about a month ago, and am wondering if the type of art is in too small a niche to be worth continuing.

1. When you surf the net for fantasy art, what are you looking for?
2. What will you do with the art you find?
3. What can an art site do for you?
4. What do you often find you need

(To add context when you respond, please indicate if you look for sites primarily as an art lover, roleplayer, writer, or other.)

Thanks!

Hi~!
Sorry it took me so long to get back, but now I brought some of my friends. so we can all get better aquainted ~!
You do fabulous fantasy art and some of my friends do similarly and have joined here ..

What we use art galleries for online is exposure and promotion as well as finding friends with the same intentions of ultimately wanting to find venues for their/our art.

WE are who came today are members of Art Auction Worldwide. Phil Cashdollar is our leader~ We have just collectively taken the step to bring art networking to the 'next level' . Many of us are now starting our own 'personal' ning websites as we link back to the 'mother ship' with a few adjustments in the Manager Section so we can pop back and forth between sites with ease .

Everyone knows something and has something to share.. WE all help each other as we push forward collectively to get Art Auction Worldwide well known across the web as the only completely free web site for the programs we plan on implementing.

By learning how to interact on these websites, we encounter art collectors and galleries and contest as well as jobs ~ Yes some of us sell between sites and off site by someone having seen our artwork~

Computer art is hot.. It is at the forefront of the artworld.. There are endless possibilities with a good art program and a mouse ~ I paint in acrylics but have started using art programming to edit pictures of my paintings and then got into just painting on line... I love it!!

But a drawback ~ I am self taught and dont know all the 'tricks' . I do cross media, as I can take one of my acrylic paintings, take a pic of it , make a jpeg and then put it in edit, enlarge it to the max and then digitally repaint each part , began with cleaning jpeg artefacts but then saw I could draw and paint with the other 'tools'
My biggest problem was diagonals and circles, but I have learned to smudge them into place and I love to clone things, especially grass or trees~

So when I was invited to your site last autumn I joined but am busier at Phil's Art Auction Worldwide which is one to of the best art sites on ning and on the web~Many of us visit and belong to other sites. The ones easiest to visit are our sister site and member sites. You would be welcome to join in a 'tab exchange'

WE are uniting , opening stores, showing people how to sell and auction their works and get free advertising and how to get into the search engines .

I have been selling online for over 2 years now and am sharing what I have learned with all my friends at AAW,.

So we look forward to knowing one another and helping one another prosper~

:) Ave
